Ubuntu Minimal 20.04 LTS (Focal Fossa) release [20250107]

The Ubuntu Minimal Cloud image can be run on your personal Ubuntu Cloud, or on public clouds that provide Ubuntu Certified Images.

Launching Ubuntu Minimal

KVM

When launching the download image from KVM, you will need to specify the virtio network driver.

LXD

First add the new Ubuntu Minimal images simplestreams endpoint:

  
    lxc remote add --protocol simplestreams ubuntu-minimal https://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/minimal/releases/
  

Launch the focal image:

  
    lxc launch ubuntu-minimal:focal
